The speech model transcribes; S1-mini refines the text. Both run on your Mac. Dictionary replacements and any translation happen before AI cleanup.
Choose Polished in Settings → Text output → Cleanup. English dictation only; not meeting recordings. Requires a one-time download of about 350 MB.

Prefer to use your own dictation server?
Advanced users can connect a self-hosted Parakeet server. In this optional mode, dictation audio is sent to your configured server instead of being processed on your Mac. Meeting transcription still runs locally.
Where do optional meeting notes run?
Meeting notes are off by default. Turn them on to send transcript text to an OpenAI-compatible server you choose. A server on this Mac keeps notes local; an external provider receives the text. Audio transcription and speaker labels stay on your Mac. Read the setup and privacy details →
